The Rev. Darrell C. Kobs has been the pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church since June, 1991. He is a graduate of Concordia University at St. Paul, Minnesota (Associate of Arts, 1969), Concordia Senior College at Fort Wayne, Indiana (Bachelor of Arts, 1971), and Concordia Seminary at St. Louis, Missouri (Master of Divinity, 1975). Previous to serving at St. John’s, Russellville, Pastor Darrell has served Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod congregations in Iowa City, Iowa (Our Redeemer), Eureka, California (Trinity), and La Mesa, California (Christ). He is married to Terri and they have three children: Matthew, Megan, and Laura.

Debra L. Burris has been the Church Office Secretary since July of 2004. Since January of 2005 she has served also as the church’s bookkeeper. Debra is married to Allen and they have two daughters: Sherry and Heather. Church office hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


St. John’s Lutheran Church is a congregation of over 450 Lutheran Christians who regularly meets at 500 North Cumberland Avenue in Russellville, Arkansas. It is a constituted member of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and of its representative body the Mid-South District which spans not only Arkansas but also Tennessee and the southern third of Kentucky. The congregation’s mission is to “actively seek and empower ambassadors of the Word in the service of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Its members are therefore often referred to as “ambassadors of the Word.”
